THEME OF THE ISSUE: Development as Theoretical Concept

The Bulletin of the Institute of Sociology (Vestnik Instituta sotziologii) journal has been published since 2010 and was issued twice a year until 2014. It is now published 4 times a year.


The journal is a specialized academic periodical, and a platform for scientific dialog, discussions, exchange of views, positions, and experience between professional sociologists. A distinctive feature of this journal is the wide reach within Russian regions. The journal regularly publishes analytical articles prepared on the basis of the results of the most interesting studies in the regions.

The journal is registered in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). The five-year impact factor of the journal without self-citation (RSCI, 2015) is 0.757. In terms of this indicator the journal is on the 10th place among specialized sociological periodicals. In December 2015 it entered the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) on the Web of Science Platform.

The journal is published in an electronic format on the Internet and has free access. According to the website statistics, its readership is more than 1800 people.

The target audience of the journal is made up of researchers, university professors, students and postgraduates of sociological and political specializations, as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities and the expert community.
