The common and the particular in using the time-resource of everyday life among workers of various ages

This article continues the analysis of workers’ actual behavior in areas such as labor, everyday life, recovery and self-development, the results of which were described in an authors’ publication issued in this journal back in 2016, called “Workers’ time budget as a reflection of their actual behavior in everyday life (1965-2014)”. A comparison is drawn between workers’ social characteristics depending on their age. While utilizing objective time-use parameters combined with subjective evaluations of everyday life labor fields, this article examines such an issue as age differentiation in the behavior of workers’, the latter being composed of several generations of Russian people who received professional training during Soviet and post-Soviet years. An evaluation and interpretation is carried out of the degree of alignment or misalignment of parameters such as time structuring and the importance of separate activity type groups among workers of various age groups. Characterized are common and special traits in workers’ behavior depending on their social characteristics, the latter being factors such as gender, age, marital status, education and professional qualification. Determined are several generations’ of workers attitudes towards moral standards as a fundamental factor in their actual behavior in the primary fields of everyday activity. Accentuated is the behavior of young workers, as well as the distinctive features of their adaptation practices when it comes to time-use, which could point to a possible perspective direction of transformation in the conscience, behavior and value orientations among workers. A combined array of data on the time budget of workers, who were interviewed in 2014 at industrial enterprises in Vladimir, Omsk and Pskov, is used as an empirical base for this article.
